Alexia Thainara, the Brazilian strawweight who fights under the nickname "Burguesinha" ("Little Bourgeois Girl"), was born on November 20, 1997, in Japeri, in the Rio de Janeiro metropolitan area. She built her career far from home, relocating to Varginha in Minas Gerais to train under the Ribas Family banner alongside coach Marcelo Ribas and UFC contender Amanda Ribas. Path to the UFC
Thainara debuted as a professional in 2018, winning her first bout by armbar. Her only career setback came early, a 2019 third-round guillotine submission loss to Bruna Brasil at Thunder Fight 20 – a defeat that would loom over her for years. From there she went on a tear through the Brazilian circuit, finishing fight after fight and racking up wins for promotions such as Arena Global, SFT and Jungle Fight.
