Building momentum in the UFC

Duncan opened his Octagon run in March 2023 with a hard-fought split-decision win over Omar Morales at UFC 286, then handed undefeated prospect Yanal Ashmouz his first loss by unanimous decision that July. A first-round submission defeat to Manuel Torres in February 2024 briefly stalled him, but Duncan responded with one of the best stretches of his career. He submitted Bolaji Oki with a first-round guillotine in September 2024, choked out Jordan Vucenic with another guillotine in March 2025, and then delivered a signature result by outpointing the highly regarded Mateusz Rębecki over three rounds that August.

Headliner status and a step up

That run carried Duncan into the upper reaches of the division. In December 2025, he submitted Terrance McKinney with a first-round anaconda choke at UFC 323, extending a strong winning streak and cementing his standing as one of the UK's most reliable lightweights. The momentum met a tougher test in April 2026, when veteran contender Renato Moicano submitted him by second-round rear-naked choke – a learning experience against elite competition at the top of the ladder.

Duncan is a pressure fighter who blends genuine knockout power with an increasingly polished submission game. His record reflects that versatility: of his 15 wins, seven have come by knockout and four by submission, for a 73% finish rate, and his recent run has leaned heavily on chokes finished in tight scrambles. The flip side is that his aggression has occasionally left him exposed – all three of his losses came by stoppage, two by submission and one by knockout – against the division's sharper finishers.
