Building an unbeaten UFC run

Before reaching the UFC, Shore had already tested himself against established names on the regional circuit, outpointing veteran Vaughan Lee over three rounds at Cage Warriors 92 in 2018. His Octagon debut came in September 2019, where he submitted Nohelin Hernandez by third-round rear-naked choke. He followed it in July 2020 by choking out Aaron Phillips in the second round, then strung together decision wins over Hunter Azure, Liudvik Sholinian, and the highly regarded Timur Valiev in March 2022, pushing his unbeaten run deep into the bantamweight rankings.

Setbacks and a move to featherweight

The first loss of his career arrived in July 2022, when Ricky Simón caught him with a second-round arm-triangle choke. Shore responded in characteristic fashion, moving up to featherweight and submitting Makwan Amirkhani by rear-naked choke in the second round at UFC 286 in March 2023. The road since has been rougher: a freak doctor stoppage from a shin cut against Joanderson Brito at UFC 301 in May 2024, followed by a second-round arm-triangle loss to Youssef Zalal later that year, leaving him to regroup at 145 pounds.

Fighting style

Shore is a grappler first, and the numbers reflect it — nine of his 17 wins have come by submission, with a finish rate around 76 percent. His game is built on relentless pressure, tight chain wrestling, and a high-percentage rear-naked choke that has ended fight after fight. He is more than a one-trick grappler, though, with four knockouts on his ledger and a willingness to grind out decisions when finishes do not come. His demonstrated vulnerability has been the arm-triangle choke, the method behind two of his three career losses, a pattern that opponents have begun to target.
