Sean Woodson Record: 14-2-1

UFC career

Woodson's Octagon tenure has been a study in patience and steady climbing. After a 2020 submission loss to veteran Julian Erosa – his first pro defeat – he rebounded with a split-decision win over Youssef Zalal and a first-round body-shot TKO of Collin Anglin. His August 2022 bout with Luis Saldaña at UFC 278 ended in a split draw, but he soon found a groove, stringing together decision wins over Dennis Buzukja, Charles Jourdain at UFC 297, and veteran Alex Caceres. He closed 2024 in style with a first-round TKO of Fernando Padilla, before running into a step up in April 2025, when he was stopped by strikes in the third round against the hard-hitting Dan Ige at UFC 314.

Fighting style

Woodson is a classic long-range technician who weaponizes his height and reach to fight from the outside, picking opponents apart with a steady, accurate jab and well-timed strikes – exactly the marksman's approach his nickname implies. His record skews toward the scorecards: eight of his 13 wins have come by decision, with four knockouts and a single submission filling out a 38% finish rate that reflects a measured, point-accumulating style rather than a reckless one. His length and output make him a tough out, but the flip side has shown up against grappling pressure and elite power – both of his losses came by stoppage, one submission and one by strikes. At his best, he controls distance and tempo to win rounds methodically.

Career highlights

• Contender Series knockout of the year candidate — a flying-knee finish of Terrance McKinney in 2019 earned him his UFC contract.
• Multi-fight UFC win streak — strung together victories over the likes of Charles Jourdain and Alex Caceres to climb the featherweight ladder.
• Length-driven striking identity — at 6'2" with a 78" reach, "The Sniper" is one of the longest, most awkward strikers in the featherweight division.
