Earning the contract

Wellmaker's breakthrough came in August 2024 on Dana White's Contender Series, where he faced the seasoned 13-2 Adam Bramhald. Wellmaker needed just one round, flattening Bramhald with a knockout punch to earn his UFC contract in emphatic fashion – exactly the kind of highlight that puts a prospect on the map.

The UFC run

Wellmaker wasted no time announcing himself in the Octagon. In April 2025 he knocked out previously highly rated prospect Cameron Saaiman with a single punch in the first round, then doubled down in June 2025 with another first-round knockout, this time of veteran Kris Moutinho. The back-to-back one-punch finishes made him one of the division's most feared punchers. His unbeaten UFC run ended in November 2025 at UFC 322, when Ethyn Ewing outpointed him over three rounds for a unanimous decision.
