Early UFC promise

Maverick debuted at UFC 254 in October 2020 with a first-round doctor-stoppage TKO of Liana Jojua, then followed with a unanimous decision over the dangerous grappler Gillian Robertson at UFC 260 in March 2021. That fast start ran into the division's rising talent. She dropped a controversial split decision to Maycee Barber in July 2021, and then a unanimous decision to future contender Erin Blanchfield at UFC 269 – two close, formative setbacks against elite opposition.

Rebuilding into a contender

Maverick responded with the most consistent stretch of her career. She submitted Sabina Mazo with a second-round rear-naked choke in March 2022, outpointed Shanna Young that November, and after a 2023 decision loss to Jasmine Jasudavicius, reeled off four straight wins. She submitted Priscila Cachoeira with a third-round armbar at UFC 291, then took unanimous decisions over veteran Andrea Lee at UFC 298, Dione Barbosa, and the unbeaten Jamey-Lyn Horth in December 2024. That winning run earned her a marquee bout with former two-division UFC champion Rose Namajunas in June 2025, which she dropped by unanimous decision.

Fighting style

Maverick is a grappling-first flyweight who looks to drag fights to the mat and hunt finishes, with seven of her 15 wins coming by submission against one knockout and seven decisions for a finish rate around 53 percent. Her wrestling base lets her control position and transition into chokes and armbars, the route to her wins over Mazo, Cachoeira and Bennett. The recurring obstacle has been the judges: all six of her losses have come by decision, several of them razor-thin, often in fights where she struggled to out-volume sharper strikers over three rounds. Notably, she has never been finished, a marker of the toughness and defensive grappling that keep her competitive against the division's best.
