Building a knockout reputation

Diaz's reputation as a finisher took hold on the LFA stage. In March 2022 he headlined LFA 127 and stopped the experienced Bruno Assis by first-round knockout, a statement win over a 12-fight veteran. That momentum earned him a Dana White's Contender Series invitation in July 2022, but the step up proved a hard lesson: Joe Pyfer caught him with a second-round knockout to hand Diaz one of the few setbacks of his career. Rather than fade, he returned to LFA and rebuilt, and in May 2024 he headlined again at LFA 184, knocking out Bevon Lewis in the second round to force his way back into the UFC's plans.

The UFC run

Diaz's promotional debut in November 2024 was an unforgiving one: he met the surging Mingyang Zhang and was stopped by elbows and punches in the first round. He bounced back impressively in March 2025 at UFC 313, outworking Djorden Santos over three rounds for a unanimous-decision win that showed a more complete, composed version of his game. In May 2026 at UFC 328 he ran into the rising Ateba Gautier, who stopped him by second-round TKO, leaving Diaz at 10-4 as a dangerous but streaky veteran still searching for consistency at the elite level.

Fighting style

Diaz is a finisher to his core. Of his 10 professional wins, seven have come by knockout and two by submission, a 90% finish rate that ranks among the most lethal in his weight class. His best weapon is raw punching power, weaponized by a 6'4" frame and 79-inch reach that lets him land before opponents are in range. The flip side is honest: every one of his four losses has come by knockout or TKO, a pattern that points to defensive vulnerabilities when he is pressured by sharp, powerful strikers.
