Pannie Kianzad, the Iranian-born Swedish bantamweight nicknamed "Banzai," is a UFC veteran and former Cage Warriors champion fighting out of Arte Suave Copenhagen. Born Pannie Pantea Kianzad on December 8, 1991, in Ahvaz, Iran, she emigrated to Sweden as a young child and was raised in the Helsingborg area. She came to combat sports through boxing at around age 14, amassing roughly two to three dozen amateur bouts before transitioning to submission grappling and shootfighting in her late teens, where she earned national medals in Sweden. Standing 5'7" with a 66-inch reach, the technically polished pressure fighter eventually settled in Denmark to train, building the disciplined, volume-based style that has defined her career.
Path to the UFC
Kianzad turned professional in 2012 and climbed the European circuit, going unbeaten across her first several years and capturing the Cage Warriors bantamweight title. She also tested herself in Invicta FC, edging Jessica-Rose Clark by decision in 2015 before running into veteran Tonya Evinger, who handed her a TKO loss that year.
