Chelsea Chandler bio
Personal background
Chelsea Chandler is an American featherweight competing in the UFC with a 7–4 professional record. Born January 29, 1994, in Stockton, California, Chandler took an unconventional route into the sport: she played basketball and ran track in high school, then began training Muay Thai in 2009 after taking a year off college to live in Thailand, including time at the famed Tiger Muay Thai. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Miami before returning to Northern California. In 2015 she started training under Nate Diaz at the Diaz Academy and ultimately settled into the Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu camp, the Stockton lineage that produced the Diaz brothers. The 5'8" Chandler is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu purple belt known for an aggressive, forward-pressing style.
Path to the UFC
Chandler turned professional in 2018 and dropped her debut by decision before finding her footing in Invicta FC. There she rattled off four straight wins – a decision over Mitzi Merry, a second-round TKO of Brittney Victoria, a first-round rear-naked choke of the previously unbeaten Olivia Parker, and a decision over Courtney King – to earn her UFC call-up. That run established her as a finisher with the wrestling and grappling to back up her pressure.
UFC run
Chandler made an immediate statement in her October 2022 Octagon debut, stopping Julija Stoliarenko by first-round TKO in a performance that earned a post-fight bonus. The step up in competition that followed was steep. She dropped a unanimous decision to former title challenger Norma Dumont in July 2023, then rebounded with a unanimous-decision win over the previously one-loss Josiane Nunes in March 2024. Decisions did not break her way next: she lost to veteran Yana Santos in August 2024 and was stopped by first-round strikes from Joselyne Edwards in April 2025. Chandler returned to the win column in June 2026 with a first-round armbar of Priscila Cachoeira, a finish that showed her grappling remains a live weapon.
Fighting style
Chandler is a pressure fighter who blends a Muay Thai striking base with aggressive grappling. Her record is well-rounded across the win column – two knockouts, two submissions and three decisions for a finish rate around 57 percent – reflecting a fighter comfortable either pushing the pace on the feet or hunting finishes on the mat, as her TKO of Stoliarenko and armbar of Cachoeira demonstrate. The honest read on her losses is consistency at the top of the division: three of her four defeats came by decision against established contenders, and one by first-round knockout, suggesting she can be out-pointed in extended exchanges. When she imposes her forward pressure, though, she remains a handful for anyone in the weight class.
Career highlights
- Bonus-winning UFC debut — Chandler stopped Julija Stoliarenko by first-round TKO to announce herself on the sport's biggest stage.
- Four-fight Invicta streak to the UFC — she earned her contract by winning four straight after losing her pro debut, mixing decisions with a knockout and a submission.
- Stockton fight pedigree — a product of the Diaz Academy and Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Chandler carries the aggressive, pressure-heavy identity of one of MMA's most storied camps.
