The run up the lightweight ladder

Saint-Denis turned 2023 into a breakout year. He submitted Ismael Bonfim with a face crank in July, battered Thiago Moisés for a second-round TKO that September, and capped the year with a first-round head-kick knockout of Matt Frevola at UFC 295. That five-fight surge thrust him into the rankings and earned a March 2024 main-event step up against former title challenger Dustin Poirier at UFC 299, where he was knocked out in the second round of a back-and-forth war. A second-round doctor stoppage loss to Renato Moicano in September 2024 deepened the setback, but he regrouped emphatically.
