Strawweight years

The UFC's deep 115-pound division tested her. Grasso dropped a 2017 decision to Felice Herrig, rebounded with a split-decision win over Randa Markos, then absorbed a first-round submission loss to the unbeaten Tatiana Suarez in 2018. She answered with a clear decision over Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 238 in 2019, then narrowly lost a majority decision to former champion Carla Esparza. That loss helped push her up to flyweight.

Flyweight rise and the title

At 125 pounds Grasso found her footing. She beat Ji Yeon Kim in 2020, edged the highly touted Maycee Barber in 2021, submitted Joanne Wood with a first-round rear-naked choke in 2022, and outpointed Viviane Araujo over five rounds to earn a title shot. At UFC 285 in March 2023, she stunned the sport by submitting long-reigning champion Valentina Shevchenko with a fourth-round rear-naked choke to win the UFC Women's Flyweight Championship. The September 2023 rematch ended in a split draw, leaving her belt intact. Shevchenko reclaimed the title by unanimous decision in their 2024 trilogy bout at UFC 306. Grasso then dropped a 2025 decision to Natália Silva before storming back in March 2026 with a first-round knockout of Maycee Barber.

Fighting style

Grasso is a crisp, technical boxer at heart, with clean combinations, sharp counters and excellent footwork honed under her uncle's tutelage. Ten of her 17 wins have gone to decision, a reflection of her volume and ring craft, but she is far from one-dimensional: five KO/TKO wins and two submissions, including the choke that won her the title, show real finishing teeth. Her grappling, once a question mark, became a championship-level asset. The honest knock has been a tendency to start measured and concede early rounds, and elite wrestlers like Suarez have exposed her on the mat, but few fighters in the division are sharper on the feet.
