Regional rise and first setbacks

The first real obstacle came in June 2023, when undefeated prospect Yadier del Valle handed Aswell his first notable loss by unanimous decision at Fury FC 80. He responded the way contenders do, rattling off back-to-back wins in early 2024 – a fourth-round doctor stoppage of Josh Altum and a first-round knockout of Nate Richardson – to earn a Dana White's Contender Series shot. There he ran into another unbeaten standout, Bogdan Grad, dropping a razor-thin split decision in August 2024 that denied him an immediate contract. Undeterred, he returned to Fury FC and outpointed Dorian Ramos to keep his momentum.

UFC arrival

Aswell finally reached the UFC in 2025, and the early going showed both the level jump and his resilience. He dropped a unanimous decision to Bolaji Oki in May 2025 before authoring his signature octagon moment in October, a first-round TKO of the experienced Lucas Almeida on a UFC Fight Night card in Brazil that announced him as a finisher at the highest level. A unanimous-decision loss to Luke Riley in March 2026 followed, leaving him at 11-4 overall and setting up a June 2026 matchup with Gaston Bolaños.

Fighting style

Aswell is a pressure-based striker who wins fights with volume, conditioning and a granite chin. Six of his 11 wins have come by knockout or TKO for a 55% finish rate, and tellingly, all four of his losses have gone to decision – he has never been finished. His game leans on relentless forward pace and accumulated damage rather than one-shot power, and his deepest-water wins, including the fourth-round doctor stoppage of Altum, underline his cardio. The flip side is that elite, technical opponents have been able to out-point him over three rounds, a gap he is working to close at the UFC level.
