Luke Riley bio
Personal background
Luke Riley is an undefeated English featherweight competing in the UFC, born on June 30, 1999, in Liverpool, Merseyside. A scouse striker with fast hands and serious knockout power, Riley was immersed in combat sports from childhood – he was flying to Thailand to compete in Muay Thai by the age of ten and captured a European title at thirteen, building the sharp, action-first striking that defines his style. He trains out of Next Generation MMA in Liverpool, the same gym as UFC star Paddy Pimblett, who served as a key sparring partner and long championed Riley's potential. Standing 5'9" with a 69" reach, Riley brings a perfect 13–0 professional record into the Octagon.
Path to the UFC
Riley turned professional in 2021 and built his entire pre-UFC career inside Cage Warriors, the European promotion known for producing UFC talent. He announced himself immediately with first-round finishes of Kamil Wincenciak and Yuki Angdembe, then rolled through Jack Eglin, Cherif Larossi, and Karol Kutyla. As the competition stiffened he showed he could win when the finish didn't come, taking decisions over Kallum Parker, the veteran Matheus Malta, and John De Jesus, while continuing to find stoppages – including a third-round TKO of the unbeaten Alexander Loof in 2023.
Closing out Cage Warriors
Riley's final regional run cemented his status as one of Europe's top featherweight prospects. In 2024 he knocked out the experienced Alexandre Junior in the first round at Cage Warriors 178, then stopped Tariel Abbasov with knees and punches in 2025. The undefeated 11–0 record, combined with his charisma and finishing instinct, was enough for UFC President Dana White to sign him directly to the roster in August 2025, bypassing the traditional Contender Series route.
Inside the Octagon
Riley wasted no time validating the hype. In his UFC debut in November 2025 he knocked out the 15–3 Bogdan Grad in the second round, a statement finish against a seasoned opponent. He followed with a unanimous-decision win over Michael Aswell in March 2026, pushing his perfect record to 13–0. Next he is scheduled to meet the experienced Kai Kamaka III at UFC 329, a significant step up that will test how far the unbeaten Liverpudlian can climb.
Fighting style
Riley is first and foremost a knockout artist. Nine of his thirteen wins have come by KO or TKO, the product of his deep Muay Thai background, fast hands, and a willingness to engage that makes for thrilling fights. His four decision wins, however, reveal a more complete fighter than a pure brawler – he has shown the cardio and composure to win hard three-round battles on the scorecards when finishes don't materialize. Unbeaten across thirteen professional bouts and never stopped, Riley pairs an offense-minded striking game with the resilience to grind out hard fights, a combination that has made him one of the most talked-about featherweight prospects in the sport.
