Bellator title runs and exit

A 2017 first-round doctor stoppage loss to Brent Primus cost Chandler the belt, but he avenged it with a five-round decision over Primus at Bellator 212 in 2018. He was stopped by featherweight king Patricio Pitbull in 2019, then closed his Bellator run in emphatic fashion – a 2019 right-cross knockout of Sidney Outlaw and a 2020 first-round knockout of Benson Henderson in their rematch – cementing his standing as a former three-time Bellator lightweight champion.

UFC and title challenge

Chandler signed with the UFC and arrived with a bang, stopping Dan Hooker in the first round at UFC 257 in January 2021. That earned him a shot at the vacant lightweight title at UFC 262 in May 2021, where Charles Oliveira recovered from early trouble to stop him in the second round – leaving Chandler a title challenger rather than champion. He then traded in wars: a 2021 decision loss to Justin Gaethje, a spectacular 2022 front-kick knockout of Tony Ferguson at UFC 274, and a submission loss to Dustin Poirier later that year.

Later career

Chandler coached opposite Conor McGregor on The Ultimate Fighter, but a long-awaited bout never materialized. He returned to a unanimous-decision loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 309 in 2024 and a 2025 TKO defeat to Paddy Pimblett. He picked up a 2025 grappling-rules win over Chad Mendes before being stopped by Mauricio Ruffy in 2026.

Fighting style

Chandler is a wrestling-based pressure fighter who turned into one of the sport's most violent finishers, with a finish rate near 78 percent – 11 of his 23 wins by knockout and seven by submission. His Division I wrestling pedigree underpins explosive takedowns, while his blitzing power and willingness to brawl make him a fan favorite.
