Bantamweight rise in the UFC

Wood debuted in the octagon in June 2018 with a statement, submitting durable veteran Johnny Eduardo with a second-round D'Arce choke. He followed at UFC 232 in December 2018 by submitting Andre Ewell with a third-round rear-naked choke, then choked out Jose Alberto Quiñonez in March 2019 to push his UFC record to 3-0. A February 2020 TKO loss to former title challenger John Dodson was his first UFC defeat, and after a unanimous-decision win over John Castañeda in July 2020, he dropped a decision to Casey Kenney at UFC 254.

Featherweight resurgence

A move up to featherweight revitalized Wood's career. He returned in July 2022 with a decision win over Charles Rosa, then outpointed Charles Jourdain that September. In July 2023 he handed veteran Andre Fili a unanimous-decision loss, before dropping a competitive decision to Muhammad Naimov at UFC 294. Wood then reeled off a strong run of decision wins, beating Daniel Pineda at UFC 304 in 2024 and Morgan Charrière in March 2025, defeating prospect Jose Delgado at UFC 321 in October 2025, and edging Losene Keita by split decision in 2026. He also stayed active in submission grappling, taking decision wins over Alex Caceres and Cameron Else on the Polaris circuit.

Fighting style

Wood is a well-rounded finisher who blends an aggressive, pressure-based striking attack with a genuinely dangerous submission game — eight of his 23 wins have come by knockout and five by submission, for a 57% finish rate. His Cage Warriors title run was built on chokes and stoppages, and even as his recent UFC bouts have gone to decision more often, he wins them by out-volume and control rather than coasting. His pace and grappling depth are his calling cards; the main vulnerability his record shows is power punchers, with both of his knockout losses coming against sharp strikers.
