Roman Kopylov Record: 16-5-0

MMA Debut & Rise to UFC

Kopylov began his professional MMA career in 2016, quickly making waves in Russia’s regional scene. He compiled an undefeated 8–0 record, capturing and defending the Fight Nights Global Middleweight Championship. His performances were marked by crisp striking, strong takedown defense, and a high finishing rate—all of which earned him a call from the UFC.

He made his UFC debut in November 2019, but faced tough early tests, dropping his first two bouts. Rather than fade, Kopylov adjusted, improved, and returned stronger. From 2022 onward, he rattled off a string of impressive knockout wins, showcasing his ability to set traps, time counters, and end fights with precision. Most notably, he finished Chris Curtis with a head kick just seconds before the final horn in their 2025 bout, solidifying his spot as a rising force in the division.

Fighting Style & Attributes

Kopylov stands at 6'0" with a 75-inch reach and fights from a southpaw stance. His base in combat sambo gives him a strong command of balance, timing, and transitions, but his striking is what separates him from many of his peers. Known for a fluid, technical style, he combines stiff jabs, sharp counters, and punishing kicks—especially to the body and head.

He excels at maintaining distance, slipping into range with clean shots, and exiting without taking damage. His ability to change tempo, mix up targets, and finish fights with either hand or leg makes him unpredictable and dangerous. While his grappling is rarely on display, his takedown defense and composure in scrambles show his full-scope martial arts background.

As of mid-2025, Kopylov has established himself as one of the UFC middleweight division’s most clinical and consistent knockout artists.
