Yousri Belgaroui bio
Personal background
Yousri Belgaroui is a Tunisian-Dutch middleweight competing in the UFC, fighting under the nickname “Baby Face Assassin” with a 10–3 professional MMA record. Born on June 29, 1992, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and of Tunisian heritage, he first made his name not in the cage but in the ring, rising to elite status in kickboxing before fully committing to mixed martial arts. A towering 6'5" frame with a 79-inch reach gives him a rare physical profile for the weight class, and he trains out of Glover Teixeira's Teixeira MMA & Fitness in Connecticut, where he sharpens an already devastating striking arsenal alongside the gym's deep stable of fighters.
From kickboxing's elite to MMA
Belgaroui spent years at the top of the kickboxing world, competing for the prestigious Glory promotion as a multiple-time middleweight title challenger. That run produced one of the more notable résumés in the sport: he twice met future UFC champion Israel Adesanya on the kickboxing circuit in 2016, dropping a unanimous decision and then a split decision in tightly contested bouts. He also built a memorable trilogy with another future UFC champion, Alex Pereira: Belgaroui won their first meeting at Glory 40 by unanimous decision in 2017, before Pereira took the next two by stoppage, including a first-round knockout at Glory 55. Sharing the ring with two of MMA's most feared strikers in their kickboxing primes speaks to the level Belgaroui operated at.
Transition to mixed martial arts
Belgaroui turned his attention to MMA in 2021 and carried his ferocious striking with him, racking up knockouts on the regional scene across the UAE Warriors and Levels Fight League promotions. His first crack at the UFC came on Dana White's Contender Series in August 2023, where he ran into Brazilian prospect Marco Tulio and dropped a unanimous decision. Rather than derail him, the setback fueled a rebuilding stretch of finishes that eventually earned him a UFC contract.
Breakthrough in the UFC
Belgaroui finally arrived in the Octagon in October 2025 and made an immediate statement, stopping the heavily experienced Azamat Bekoev, a 20–3 veteran, by third-round TKO in an upset debut. He backed it up in March 2026 with another third-round TKO, this time over previously unbeaten prospect Mansur Abdul-Malik, finishing with punches and a knee. Two violent finishes against quality opposition announced the long-time kickboxer as a genuine threat in the UFC middleweight division.

Fighting style
Belgaroui is a knockout artist first and foremost, and the numbers back it up: of his 10 MMA wins, eight have come by knockout, with the remaining two by decision and zero submissions, a striking-heavy 80% finish rate. His kickboxing pedigree shows in everything — sharp boxing, punishing knees and the length to fight at range against almost anyone in the division. The flip side is that all three of his MMA losses have come by decision, suggesting that opponents who can survive his early pressure and drag fights into deeper waters present the toughest test. But when Belgaroui lands clean, the fight tends not to last long.
Career highlights
- Elite kickboxing résumé — a multiple-time Glory middleweight title challenger who shared the ring with future UFC champions Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira.
- Upset UFC debut — stopped 20–3 veteran Azamat Bekoev by third-round TKO to open his Octagon run.
- 80% finish rate — eight of his 10 MMA wins have come by knockout, marking him as one of the division's most dangerous strikers.
