Charles Jourdain bio
Personal background
Charles "Air" Jourdain is a Canadian UFC featherweight, born November 27, 1995, in Beloeil, Quebec. A product of Quebec's deep combat-sports scene, he started training young and rounded out a versatile game across kickboxing, Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the blend that produces his trademark highlight-reel finishes. Standing 5'9" with a 69" reach and known for his crowd-pleasing, all-action style, he has built his career around aggression and finishing instinct, traits that earned him the "Air" nickname and a loyal following back home.
Path to the UFC
Jourdain turned professional in 2016 and tore through Canada's regional circuit, most notably TKO Major League MMA, where he became a multi-division champion and stacked up finishes. His first real test came in December 2017, a five-round decision loss to T.J. Laramie that he answered with a run of stoppages, including a fifth-round TKO of veteran Damien Lapilus, before the UFC came calling in 2019.
UFC career
The promotion debuted him at lightweight in May 2019 against Des Green, a decision loss that sent him back to featherweight. He found his footing fast, scoring a statement second-round TKO of former title challenger Doo Ho Choi in December 2019. From there came a stretch that captured both his appeal and his frustration: a 2020 split-decision loss to Andre Fili, a split draw with Josh Culibao, then a third-round TKO of Marcelo Rojo in 2021. A submission loss to Julian Erosa was followed by a decision win over Andre Ewell and, in April 2022, a slick first-round guillotine of Lando Vannata.
Consistency remained the challenge. Decision losses to Shane Burgos and Nathaniel Wood in 2022 were followed by a strong 2023: a unanimous decision over Kron Gracie and a first-round guillotine of Ricardo Ramos. The pattern continued into 2024 with a split-decision loss to Sean Woodson and a knockout defeat to surging prospect Jean Silva, but he closed the year by submitting Victor Henry with a second-round guillotine. He then kept rolling, finishing Davey Grant with a first-round guillotine in October 2025 and outpointing Kyler Phillips by unanimous decision in April 2026.
Fighting style
Jourdain is one of the UFC's most dangerous finishers, with a remarkable 83% finish rate: eight of his 18 wins by knockout, seven by submission and only three by decision. He fights with constant pressure and a willingness to swing, but his real separator is a high-level guillotine — several of his most important wins, including those over Vannata, Ramos, Henry and Grant, came by that exact choke. The flip side is the one that has defined his record: six of his eight losses are decisions, a sign that when the finish doesn't come, he can lose the close, technical rounds. At his best, though, few featherweights are more entertaining or more capable of ending a fight from anywhere.
Career highlights
- Elite finisher — an 83% finish rate across 18 wins, split almost evenly between knockouts and submissions, makes him one of the division's most must-watch fighters.
- Guillotine specialist — repeatedly closed marquee fights with the choke, including a first-round finish of Lando Vannata and a stoppage of Victor Henry.
- Statement over Doo Ho Choi — his second-round TKO of the former title challenger Doo Ho Choi announced him as a UFC threat.
