Chase Hooper is an American lightweight in the UFC, a grappling-first finisher who competes under the nickname "The Dream." Born Chase Alan Hooper on September 13, 1999, in Enumclaw, Washington, he was raised in the sport from childhood, starting jiu-jitsu around the age of eight at Combat Sport & Fitness in his hometown – the gym owned by former UFC bantamweight Jeff Hougland, where Hooper still trains. A decorated grappler who earned his BJJ black belt in 2021, Hooper stands 6'1" with a 74-inch reach and carries a professional record of 16-5-1. He built his reputation as one of the youngest fighters the UFC has ever signed.
Path to the UFC
Hooper began competing as an amateur while still attending Enumclaw High School, then turned professional in October 2017 at just 18 years old. He tore through the regional scene with a submission-heavy approach, and his profile climbed with a first-round rear-naked choke of Luis Gomez at Titan FC 55 in June 2019. The performances earned him a UFC deal as one of the youngest signees in promotional history, and he debuted at UFC 245 in December 2019 with a first-round TKO of Daniel Teymur.
UFC career
The young prospect's learning curve was public. He dropped a unanimous decision to veteran Alex Caceres in June 2020, then showcased his grappling creativity with a third-round heel-hook submission of Peter Barrett at UFC 256 that December. A 2021 decision loss to Steven Peterson and a 2022 TKO loss to Steve Garcia bracketed a third-round TKO win over Felipe Colares, and his move up to lightweight began to pay off.
Hooper found his stride mid-decade. He took a unanimous decision over Nick Fiore in May 2023, submitted Jordan Leavitt with a first-round rear-naked choke that November, and choked out Viacheslav Borshchev with a second-round D'Arce in May 2024. He capped the run with a first-round armbar of veteran Clay Guida at UFC 310 in December 2024 and a unanimous-decision win over the durable Jim Miller at UFC 314 in April 2025. The momentum was checked by a first-round TKO loss to Alexander Hernandez in August 2025 and a first-round TKO defeat to Lance Gibson Jr. in March 2026.

Hooper is a submission specialist with a black belt's feel for scrambles, leg locks and back takes.
