Nora Cornolle bio
Personal background
Nora Cornolle, the French UFC women’s bantamweight known as “Wonder,” was born on December 6, 1989, in Épinay-sur-Seine, a northern suburb of Paris where she still lives and trains. She came to mixed martial arts late and from a striking pedigree: a decorated Muay Thai and kickboxing competitor, she was a French national professional champion and won a silver medal at the 2022 World Games before fully committing to MMA in her 30s. That path was shaped by a demanding academic route, years of juggling training, and a serious health battle that reframed how she approached high performance. The 5'7" fighter, who carries a 67-inch reach and competes under the Team Cornolle banner, built her game around the heavy hands and clinch work that defined her stand-up career.
Path to the UFC
Cornolle made her professional MMA debut in 2021, losing a decision to Jacqueline Cavalcanti at FFA Challenge 2 – a setback that would later set up one of the more compelling rivalries of her career. She bounced back emphatically, ripping off a string of finishes across the French and Middle Eastern circuits, fighting for promotions such as Hexagone MMA and UAE Warriors. That run of stoppages earned her a UFC contract and made her one of France’s most promising women’s prospects.
UFC arrival and the Cavalcanti rivalry
Cornolle opened her UFC tenure in September 2023 with a polished unanimous-decision win over the experienced Joselyne Edwards, showcasing her striking against a durable veteran. She followed it in April 2024 with a statement second-round TKO of unbeaten prospect Melissa Mullins, finishing with a knee to the body and head kicks. The momentum stalled in September 2024 when she dropped a razor-thin split decision in her rematch with Cavalcanti, leveling their series at one apiece.
Recent run
Cornolle answered the loss in April 2025 at UFC 314, submitting Hailey Cowan with a second-round rear-naked choke to prove her grappling had caught up to her striking. The results since have been tougher: in August 2025 she dropped a unanimous decision to the seasoned Karol Rosa, and in February 2026 she was submitted by rear-naked choke in the second round in a rematch with Joselyne Edwards, who avenged her earlier defeat.

Fighting style
Cornolle is a striker first, and the numbers bear it out: of her nine wins, six come by knockout and two by submission, with just one decision, giving her one of the higher finish rates in the division at roughly 89%. Her Muay Thai background shows in her clinch entries, knees and kicks, and she has steadily added a finishing submission game, as the choke of Cowan demonstrated. Her vulnerabilities track with that aggressive style: three of her four losses are by decision and one by submission, and the recent rear-naked-choke defeats suggest opponents have targeted her once the fight hits the mat. Still, her power and pace make her a threat to end fights early.
Career highlights
- Muay Thai pedigree — a French national professional champion and 2022 World Games silver medalist before turning to MMA.
- Statement UFC finish — stopped unbeaten prospect Melissa Mullins by second-round TKO to announce herself as a bantamweight to watch.
- Proven grappling — submitted Hailey Cowan by rear-naked choke at UFC 314, showing her game extends beyond striking.
