Regional grind

The road was not linear. Padilla absorbed losses on the regional circuit, including a 2019 unanimous decision to Spike Carlyle at CXF 17, but he answered with finishes and kept his momentum across LFA, Fury FC and other promotions. That body of work — built largely on submissions and stoppages against a mix of prospects and veterans — eventually earned him his shot at the UFC.

UFC run

Padilla made an immediate impression in the UFC. In April 2023 he stopped veteran Julian Erosa with a first-round right hook, a highlight-reel finish in his promotional debut. He dropped his next bout, a unanimous decision to Kyle Nelson in September 2023, then bounced back emphatically in March 2024 by submitting Luis Pajuelo with a first-round D'Arce choke. His most recent outing, a December 2024 first-round TKO loss to the surging Sean Woodson, showed both the risk and reward of his all-action approach.

Fighting style

Padilla is a finisher first and foremost, carrying an 88% finish rate with nine of his 16 wins coming by submission and five by knockout — just two of his victories have reached the judges. He uses his length to attack with both his striking and his grappling, hunting triangles, armbars and chokes while threatening with power on the feet. That aggression cuts both ways: his losses have come overwhelmingly by decision against opponents who could neutralize his offense, with the Woodson defeat his lone stoppage loss. When Padilla forces the action and gets to his finishing sequences, he is one of the more dangerous fighters in the featherweight mix.
